  4. Nominate 10 bloggers. Ensure that they are aware of their nomination. Neither the award’s creator, nor the blogger that nominated you, can be nominated.
  5. At the end of 2020, every blog that ping-backs the creator’s original post will be entered to win the 2020 Outstanding Blogger Award!

This award was created by Colton Beckwith. See the original post here. (Please note: While checking my post pre-publication, I found the link had somehow gotten broken. If you’ve done this award, I suggest checking your link. The one above I found through searching for the same keywords as the old one.)

Questions from Lotus Laura:

1.Cats or dogs (or both)?

I like both, though I get along best with cats. I’ve lived with both for most of my life, so to me they are a balance of energies. Ideally, I would like to have a medium to large dog (maybe two) and a couple cats who all get along well. However, if I had to choose to have only one, it would be cats. I’m an introvert who likes to sit and think quietly, not an extrovert who likes running around after tennis balls. I find big, enthusiastic greetings intimidating rather than gratifying, and I love cuddling with cats on my lap. Yes, I know you can do that with little dogs, but I still prefer the way a cat sits on a lap.

2. What makes you unique?

The combination of my inner essence, my experiences in this life, and my thoughts that arise from that intersection.

3. What’s your preferred method of transportation?

It’s hard for me to choose. I enjoy riding the bus because I can watch the scenery, work on writing or reading projects, or even take a short nap. However, I also like driving a car because I can control exactly where I go. I suppose it depends on my mood and how much time I have.

4. What’s your favorite zoo animal?

I went to a zoo exhibit once where they had a flock of lorikeet parrots that visitors could feed. It was nice to see animals that were active and engaged at the zoo.

5. What is the last book you read or are currently reading?

I just finished Don’t Call the Wolf by Aleksandra Ross. It was a bit gruesome, but every now and then, I crave something dark and wild so that I can appreciate the light more. And it had that lyrical, somewhat surreal approach to magic that I love. I’m not quite sure whether to call it dark fantasy or horror. Which way would you sort silver-boned dragons, undead owl-people and poisoned wounds? I hadn’t even realized when I got it that it was inspired by Polish folklore, but now I have a whole slew of concepts and creatures to research. Strzygon will certainly haunt me for some time!

6. What time do you wake up in the morning?

If I have no alarm set, I’m usually up around 8 AM. On work days, I set my alarm for 6:15 AM.

7. What’s your favorite genre of story?

I usually read fantasy or science fiction. What’s more exciting is when I discover books that combine genres. For example, A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki isn’t strictly fantasy because it’s set in what seems like the real world and one of the protagonists is a fictionalized version of the author. Yet there are also mysterious hints of ghosts and time travel, as well as letters that provide a historical perspective.

My Questions:

  1. Do you prefer home cooking or restaurant fare?
  2. What helps you relax?
  3. What is your favorite summer drink?
  4. Spiders: Do you kill, catch and release, or live with them?
  5. If you painted your mood right now, what colors would you use?
  6. What do you think about when you look at the sky?
  7. Which would you rather see: A solar eclipse, a gallery full of the most famous paintings in history, or a tiger in the wild?
